Now she has broken out on her own and is making some very progressive indie music. Hesta has a sweet voice, a ton of talent, and a love of music that will undoubtedly keep her in the spotlight for years to come. The video from the first single, “Born Free,” has sparked a lot of controversy and has reportedly been banned from Youtube. M.I.A., who grew up in war torn Sri Lanka, has always been one for political awareness. “Born Free” takes a somewhat satirical look at the ongoing war in the Middle East, while still remaining very real. This clip is gritty, original, and very daring.

BOXeight studios in Downtown L.A. hosted a very different and interesting Gala. The audience was treated to a behind-the-scenes look at goes on during Fashion Week. There were photo installations, live photo shoots, and DJ’s spinning great tunes all night. We talked with owner Mike Utsinger about what else made their show different from other Fashion Week events.
